Do I get proof that I attended one of your classes?

Yes, provided you meet the requirements. All students receive a certificate of completion upon successfully completing the class requirements. Also, many of the classes have been pre-approved to offer continuing education credits from organizations such as the American Translators Association (ATA), the International Medical Interpreters Association (IMIA) and the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI). You can find specific CEU information in the course descriptions.

How do you decide what topics you're going to cover?

Session content is based on real life interpreting experiences from Connecting Cultures' as well as healthcare interpreters and providers from around the country.

How do I register for a class?

It's easy!  Check out the Courses page and select the course topic of interest. Then click the "view class schedule!" button to start the registration process. Interested in more than one course? Check out the Bundles options! If you can't find what you're looking for, contact us to discuss other scheduling options.

What can I expect from a class?

You will have live interaction with an instructor, participate in activities and discussions, and leave with resources to help you apply what you've learned to your work. Each class is built so you can determine if the class met it's objectives upon completion of the course.  For a more detailed explanation, check out our article Why Connecting Cultures' Online Learning Works for Medical Interpreter Continuing Education.

How do you design your courses?

They are designed and built by subject matter experts in healthcare interpreting and a Certified Performance and Learning Professional (CPLP).  They design each session curriculum, presentation and objectives specifically for the adult learning and the learning platform (i.e. online, conference, workshop, etc.).

Can I take a class if I don't know how to use a computer very well?

Absolutely!  We are available before every session to assist you in setting up your computer for the class.  Once you've logged in to your session, your instructor will walk you through everything you need to participate in the class and enjoy your learning experience. You can also check out our article Healthcare Interpreter's Guide to Webinar-based Learning for more tips on preparing for your online course.
