It’s 7:30am, and you’re reviewing your assignments for the day ahead. Still groggy from being on call last night, you notice that today’s schedule is packed with challenging encounters:

  • The family discussing end-of-life care for their young son
  • The doctor who scolded you last week for asking a clarifying question
  • That cantankerous old man who always insists you’re not explaining correctly

Will you be up to the task? How long can you keep this up, after all?

Recognizing the emotional, physical and mental challenges of this job will bring you longevity — because once you know which challenges to look for, you can proactively find resolutions.
